Job summary

Southwest International Trucks in Waco, TX, is seeking an entry-level Diesel Mechanic / Apprentice to join the Waco Team. This full-time role offers pay from $18 to $25 per hour based on experience, along with full benefits and a path to CDL programs.

The position provides regular Monday–Friday hours, a tool allowance, and opportunities for advancement. You will work under a Senior Mechanic, perform maintenance tasks, and contribute to service and safety checks on trucks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use common hand tools.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic service information.
• Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, specifications, and repair procedures.
• Ownership of tools and toolbox.

Responsibilities

• Work with a Senior Mechanic to perform recalls and warranty work.
• Component replacement and repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance services, lubrication, oil changes, and filter replacement.
• Perform PDI inspection on new trucks and inspect brakes, tires, fluids, batteries, belts, hoses, lights, and safety components.
• Complete inspection forms, repair orders, and maintenance documentation accurately.
• Identify and report additional repair needs before performing unauthorized work.
• Use tools and shop equipment safely and maintain an orderly work area.
• Complete assigned tasks within established timeframes.

Compensation:$18 to $25/hr. (based on experience) + full benefits

Job Responsibilities:

• Works with a Senior Mechanic
• Performs recalls and warranty work
• Component replacement and repairs
