Job summary

Aerotek in Gainesville, FL, seeks a dependable Fleet Diesel Technician for 1st shift to inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on a fleet of diesel trucks, trailers, forklifts, and related mobile equipment supporting manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will apply strong mechanical aptitude, diesel engine experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while following safety procedures and maintaining accurate maintenance

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a diesel technician, diesel mechanic, fleet mechanic, or heavy equipment mechanic.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance procedures.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools.
• Ability to read and understand service manuals, schematics, and repair documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking and documentation.
• ASE certifications are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on diesel trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other fleet equipment.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, brake systems, and drivetrains.
• Conduct inspections and identify equipment needing repair or replacement.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime.
• Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately.
• Perform oil changes, filter replacements, tire repairs, and other routine service work.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate equipment issues and repair status with supervisors and operations personnel.
• Assist with facility maintenance projects as needed.

Fleet Diesel Technician - 1st Shift

Position Title: Fleet Diesel Technician

Shift: 1st Shift

Schedule: Monday-Friday (Overtime as needed)

Work Environment: Manufacturing Facility

Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Fleet Diesel Technician to join our maintenance team on 1st shift. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on a fleet of diesel-powered trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other mobile equipment that support manufacturing and production operations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, diesel engine experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to work in varying temperatures and manufacturing conditions.
• Comfortable working around machinery, vehicles, and equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gainesville, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
