Job description

Position Summary

The Diesel Technician maintains diesel equipment, completes inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, corrects vehicle deficiencies, performs adjustments and alignments, and maintains records to ensure safety and customer service commitments. $2,000 hiring bonus

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies and regulations.
  2. Conduct maintenance tasks based on driver pre- and post-trip inspections promptly or as directed by the maintenance manager.
  3. Maintain diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance, making necessary corrections.
  4. Work in adverse conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow, to repair equipment and vehicles.
  5. Build and assemble machines or mechanical components as required.
  6. Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them promptly.
  7. Maintain all relevant records for work and procedures, and report issues.
  8. Perform accurate lockout/tagout procedures.
  9. Run diagnostic tests on vehicles, analyze results, and perform test drives to diagnose malfunctions.
  10. Perform necessary procedures to ensure maximum reliability and safety, including preventive maintenance, tire changes, brake repairs, and rebuilding hydraulic components and hoses.
  11. Participate in training and learning opportunities to expand knowledge and perform other duties to support company goals.

  • Technician Apprentice: Works alongside experienced technicians to learn and develop skills, focusing on preventative maintenance and safety.
  • Technician B: Identifies operating issues, examines, test drives, troubleshoots electrical and mechanical problems, and corrects issues.
  • Technician A: Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs vehicle systems to ensure safety and dependability.
  • Master Technician: Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs all vehicle and equipment systems, including rebuilding engines and replacing major components.
Education, Experience & Qualifications

The candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED, be at least 18 years old, hold a valid Class A, B, or C driver’s license, and be legally eligible to work in the U.S. A minimum of 1-year experience in inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing trucks and stationary equipment is required. Excellent communication, listening, problem-solving skills, and teamwork are desired. Successful completion of pre-employment testing, including a drug screen, is mandatory.
