Waste Connections is looking for a safety conscience Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Pay: $25 per hour or more, based off of diesel mechanic experience.

2nd Shift Opportunity: 2:30 PM - 2:30 AM, Monday - Friday. Working every 6th Saturday.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services. Perform inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  2. Utilize vehicle computer electrical systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  3. Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  4. Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  5. Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  6. Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  7. Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  1. Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 60 pounds.
  2. Work environment may be indoors in a shop or outdoors to repair trucks on the road. Usually well-lighted and ventilated. Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions.
  3. The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Valid driver's license (CDL preferred, but not required).
  2. Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
  3. 2 years of experience preferred.
  4. Must own personal tools.
