Job summary

GFL Industries is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on refuse trucks to ensure safe and reliable operations.

The role requires 1 year of diesel technician experience, ownership of basic tools, and a valid driver's license. Overtime after 40 hours and OSHA/DOT safety compliance are part of the job. Location is on-site in the Madison, WI area.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a diesel technician/mechanic.
• Must own a personal set of basic mechanics tools.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced shop.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
• Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment (compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems).
• Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company standards.
• Maintain clean and accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to all OSHA and DOT safety protocols.

Location: N7421 Highway V Mayville WI 53050

Pay Rate: $26-$35/hr. More pay available based on experience, certifications, and skill level.

Hours / Shift: 7am-5pm M-F. Immediate OT after 40hrs worked.

About the Role

• Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
