Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet in Mayville, Wisconsin. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on refuse trucks to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Qualified candidates have at least 1 year of diesel tech experience, own basic tools, and a valid driver's license. Overtime after 40 hours and benefits after 60 days are available.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience as a diesel technician/mechanic.
• Own a personal set of basic mechanic tools.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform PMs, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
• Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment (compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems).
• Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company standards.
• Maintain clean and accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to all OSHA and DOT safety protocols.

Safely operate, repair, rebuild and perform maintenance on Company owned or leased heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment including rolling stock to ensure its ability to operate safely

Location: N7421 Highway V Mayville WI 53050

Pay Rate: $26-$35/hr. More pay available based on experience, certifications, and skill level.

Hours / Shift: 7am-5pm M-F. Immediate OT after 40hrs worked.

About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet. In this role, you will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on refuse trucks (rear loaders, side loaders, front loaders, and roll-offs) to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
• Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment (compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems).
