Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Mayville, WI is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet.

You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on diesel refuse trucks to keep operations safe and reliable. The role requires hands-on skills with hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines, and electrical troubleshooting; you must own basic mechanic tools and have a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a diesel technician/mechanic.
• Must own a personal set of basic mechanics tools.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
• Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment (compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems).
• Conduct safety inspections to ensure DOT and company standards compliance.
• Maintain clean and accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to OSHA and DOT safety protocols.

Safely operate, repair, rebuild and perform maintenance on Company owned or leased heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment including rolling stock to ensure its ability to operate safely

Location: N7421 Highway V Mayville WI 53050

Pay Rate: $26-$35/hr. More pay available based on experience, certifications, and skill level.

Hours / Shift: 7am-5pm M-F. Immediate OT after 40hrs worked.

About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet. In this role, you will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on refuse trucks (rear loaders, side loaders, front loaders, and roll-offs) to ensure safe and reliable operations.
