Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet at the Mayville, WI facility. You will perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and major repairs on refuse trucks to ensure safe, reliable operation.

The role requires 1 year of diesel technician experience, own basic tools, and a valid driver's license. You will work 7am-5pm, with OT after 40 hours, and must follow DOT/OSHA safety standards in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a diesel technician/mechanic.
• Must own a personal set of basic mechanics tools.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines and electrical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
• Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment (compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems).
• Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company standards.
• Maintain clean and accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to all OSHA and DOT safety protocols.

Safely operate, repair, rebuild and perform maintenance on Company owned or leased heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment including rolling stock to ensure its ability to operate safely

Pay Rate:

$26-$35/hr. More pay available based on experience, certifications, and skill level.

Hours / Shift:

7am-5pm M-F. Immediate OT after 40hrs worked.

About the Role
