Job description

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair vehicles and heavy equipment at various locations.
  • Work with external parties such as auto shops, parts suppliers, and tool rental suppliers as needed.
  • Fully participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre‑shift meetings.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with OSHA, DOT, company safety, and environmental regulations; wear appropriate PPE.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance, identify and replace worn or damaged parts.
  • Examine equipment, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair following the inspection procedure checklist.
  • Execute diagnostic tests and analyze results to correctly repair or replace components.
  • Replace and/or repair engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems.
  • Check lighting systems.
  • Review work orders and third‑party repairs to ensure quality.
  • Maintain and manage parts inventory.
  • Maintain detailed records of serviced equipment.
  • Maintain work area(s) and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a technician/mechanic in an industrial setting, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess basic mechanic tools required for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of vehicle operation, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of various vehicles.
  • Knowledge of facility dust emissions policy.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including use of laptop computers and portable diagnostic tools.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Good troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to complete required documentation.
  • Ability to follow directions and use logical troubleshooting processes.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to use appropriate tools and remain focused on customer service.
Physical Demands & Environment
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to balance, climb, crouch, stoop, bend, and squat frequently.
  • Ability to stand or sit continuously.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts as needed.
  • Travel 5%-20% may be required for training or work at alternate locations.
