Job summary

Salem Leasing is seeking Diesel Mechanics to diagnose, repair and maintain trucks, trailers, and other vehicles. You will interpret issues, perform brake work, transmissions, headlights, and routine maintenance while adhering to safety guidelines and company policies in a busy shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year recent medium/heavy diesel maintenance experience.
• Must have own hand tools.
• Basic computer skills.
• CDL license preferred.
• Good driving record & proven work history.
• Must be able to work in extreme heat & cold temperatures.
• Diagnostic experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
• Repair, reline, replace & adjust brakes.
• Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
• Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined & other potentially troublesome areas.
• Plan work procedures using charts, technical manuals & experience.
• Communicate with driver to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems.
• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services.
• Repair manual & automatic transmissions.
• Replace & adjust headlights.
• Comply with all safety, DOT & OSHA guidelines.
• Adhere to company rules & regulations.
• Ensure cleanliness of shop & surrounding areas.
