Job description

Job Summary: Emterra Environmental USA is a leading waste and recycling company committed to providing sustainable solutions that protect the environment and support the communities we serve. We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of waste collection and recycling vehicles.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on diesel trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct routine vehicle safety checks and maintain accurate service records.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform field repairs when necessary.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety policies and industry regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers and operations staff regarding vehicle issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are in good condition.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in waste, recycling, or transportation industries.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics tools.
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain).
  • Own basic hand tools; specialty tools provided by Emterra.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs., bend, kneel, and work in outdoor conditions as needed.
