Position Overview

This position involves performing mechanic repairs and maintaining trucks, bulldozers, scrapers, wheel and track loaders, trench diggers, asphalt equipment, and other machinery brought in for maintenance and repairs.

Minimum Requirements
  1. 4+ years' experience working on heavy equipment and construction vehicles, both diesel and gasoline.
  2. Ability to hold and maintain proper licensure and an acceptable driving record.
  3. GED or equivalent combination of experience.
  4. Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, nights, and some Saturdays.
Preferred Requirements
  1. CDL and endorsements related to mechanic and transport fields.
  2. Current medical card.
  3. Mechanic certifications from an accredited program.
  4. Light welding experience.
Responsibilities
  1. Utilize manuals, hand tools, and power tools.
  2. Use online research and diagnostics tools.
  3. Possess extensive knowledge of electrical, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and other systems.
  4. Read job orders and observe equipment in operation to diagnose malfunctions.
  5. Repair cylinders, chains, undercarriages, batteries, transmissions, torque converters, and hydraulic pumps using appropriate tools and equipment.
  6. Inspect and replace safety guards and devices as needed.
  7. Lubricate moving parts and verify repairs by test-driving equipment.
  8. Complete paperwork supporting maintenance and repairs.
  9. Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, and environmental regulations.
  10. Work safely and proactively prevent unsafe actions.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Extensive experience with gasoline and diesel construction equipment.
  2. Ability to safely operate hand tools and equipment.
  3. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  4. Ability to work independently to assess and repair equipment.
