Responsibilities of a Diesel Mechanic
  • Perform vehicle inspections, troubleshooting, and testing to identify required repairs
  • Diagnose and repair engine, mechanical, and electrical system malfunctions
  • Examine vehicles for safety and service needs
  • Verify vehicle safety and quality after repairs through test drives
  • Maintain cleanliness of customer vehicles during repairs
  • Manage costs by utilizing warranties and evaluating repair options
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors and dispatchers
  • Assist in writing work orders and interacting with customers
  • Inventory and order parts and supplies
  • Keep the work area organized and document all repairs accurately
  • Stay updated on automotive technology and industry terminology
  • Adhere to attendance, punctuality, and company policies
Requirements for a Diesel Mechanic
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Associate's degree or technical training preferred
