Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Tonawanda, New York.

• Hourly Pay: $28.03 per hour
• Quarterly Bonus: Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter
• Sign-On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
• Basic tools required
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Two or more years of classroom training and work experience, preferred
• Valid CDL Class A, preferred

• This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. To become a Ryder employee, you must:
  • Obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
  • Pass Ryder drug test
  • Pass DOT physical
  • Pass Ryder road test
  • Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from last 3 years)

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
• Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools
• Identify root causes and perform necessary repairs
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine issues
• Utilize shop management systems and electronic documentation
• Comply with all safety, DOT, and company guidelines
• Support operations as needed, including service island support
