Job summary

Transdev North America, Inc. in Arlington, VA is seeking an experienced A-Level Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment.

This role ensures safety, efficiency, and longevity of diesel assets while mentoring newer technicians. The position offers an hourly pay structure with sign-on bonus and benefits, including paid time off, holidays, and a comprehensive package.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
• Electrical and CNG bus experience strongly preferred.
• ASE certifications required; ASE certification program provided.
• CDL strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine repairs on diesel engines.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
• Lead diagnostic tests to identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for diesel engines.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.
• Other duties as required.

Transdev in Arlington, VA is seeking an experienced A-Level Diesel Mechanic to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Diesel Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our diesel‑powered assets.

• $3000 Sign on bonus


• Tech A $43.05 plus $.25 per ASE


• Tech B $34.65 plus $.25 per ASE


• Tech C $32.55 plus $.25 per ASE

• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.

Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.


• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces


• Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level


• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
