Position Overview

This position’s primary responsibility is to inspect, repair, and perform routine maintenance on all terminal shop equipment, such as truck-tractors, semi-cargo tank trailers, and related shop equipment in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. Maintain complete, timely, and accurate records on all maintenance equipment in the absence of a Shop Manager.

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis of component parts and systems on truck-tractors or cargo tank semi-trailers.
• Use power and hand tools to repair or replace defective components of the fleet and other equipment.
• Apply welding skills and knowledge of metals for vehicle repairs where applicable.
• Maintain maintenance records in accordance with company policies and regulations, especially in the absence of a Shop Manager.
• Read reports, manuals, and documents to stay updated on fleet components.
• Qualified to perform FHWA inspections (GTI code IN-ANN).
• Qualified to perform brake maintenance (GTI code BRAQUA).
• Qualified to perform tire maintenance (GTI code TIRES).
• Qualified to perform HM-183 inspections (GTI code HM183R).
• Ability to repair issues discovered during preventive maintenance inspections independently.
• Diagnose and repair electronic powertrain components and trailer ABS systems.
• Provide guidance and training to Level B and C technicians.
• Assume supervisor’s duties temporarily as needed to maintain workflow.
• Work shifts including days, nights, or weekends as specified.
• Ensure a safe work environment at all times.
• Follow cargo tank entry procedures diligently.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

*Level A technicians with HM-183 registration may not need the skills listed in points 10-13 but will be at a lower pay scale.

Additional Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Five years of heavy truck maintenance experience preferred.
• Own hand tools required.
• Pass pre-employment physical.

Computer Skills:

• Ability to operate computer systems effectively.
