Job summary

Transdev in El Cajon, CA is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician B to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across heavy-duty transit equipment. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and fleet longevity, with opportunities to mentor junior technicians and contribute to efficient operations.

Starting pay is $41.49 per hour with progression under the Teamsters Local 683 collective bargaining agreement over a multi-year period.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of heavy-duty transit equipment preferred
• ASE certifications preferred
• Three H or T series ASE certifications preferred, of which two must include H2, T2, T4 or H4
• Additionally, optimally, will possess 609 and 608 air conditioning certificates
• Mechanic’s Tool Set
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic tests using advanced tools and software to troubleshoot engine issues.
• Perform moderate complexity repairs and replacements on engine components, ensuring optimal functionality.
• Assist A-Level Mechanics in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks, contributing to efficient workflow.
• Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize engine performance.
• Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for engines.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge
• Other duties as required.
