Job summary

Transdev in El Cajon, CA is seeking a Maintenance Technician C to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across transit vehicles and equipment. You will support senior mechanics and contribute to safe, reliable service.

This position is represented by Teamsters Local 683 and subject to a collective bargaining agreement; starting pay is $37.91 per hour with progression over a 3-year period. Benefits include vacation, sick leave, medical/dental/vision after 90 days, life insurance, 401k,

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience repairing and maintaining heavy‑duty transit equipment.
• ASE certifications preferred.
• Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements; ability to obtain.
• Mechanic’s tool set.
• DOT drug testing and physical may apply per DOT rules.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and replacements on engines for optimal functionality.
• Assist higher-level mechanics in diagnostic and repair tasks.
• Service and repair all assigned transit vehicles and related light and heavy mechanical equipment.
• Lead diagnostic tests to identify issues and plan repair strategies for diesel engines.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and overhaul components as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
