Job summary

The City of Dover's Community Services Department seeks a skilled mechanic to repair and maintain gasoline and diesel engines and heavy equipment. The role is full-time, with a 40-hour week and benefits; starting salary is commensurate with experience, from $29.11 to $42.10 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; seven years’ experience in repair of heavy-duty gas and diesel engines/equipment.
• Extensive training in SCR/DPF emissions systems, welding, electrical and fuel systems.
• Valid CDL-B with air brake and tanker endorsement; ASE Light/Heavy certification and NH Vehicle Inspection licenses.

Responsibilities

• Overhauls, adjusts, maintains and repairs motor driven equipment (autos, trucks, graders, tractors, sweepers, loaders).
• Disassembles and replaces worn parts; works on engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Uses diagnostic computers to read fault codes and troubleshoot equipment with internal controls.
• Performs tune-ups of electrical and fuel systems using appropriate tools.
• Makes emergency repairs at job sites; welds and fabricates parts as needed.
• Installs equipment, lights, mirrors, and snowplowing components; maintains fleet logs.
