Job summary

City of Dover, New Hampshire, is seeking a skilled Community Services Technician to perform highly skilled mechanical work on gasoline and diesel powered vehicles and heavy equipment. This full-time 40-hour-per-week role offers a comprehensive benefits package and a starting salary commensurate with experience.

The successful candidate will overhaul and repair autos, trucks, graders, tractors, sweepers, loaders, and related machinery, using diagnosis tools and welding as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in repair of heavy-duty gas and diesel engines/heavy equipment.
  • Extensive training in SCR/DPF emissions systems, welding, electrical and fuel systems.
  • Valid CDL-B with air brake and tanker endorsement.
  • ASE Light/Heavy certification and NH Vehicle Inspection licenses.
  • Diesel aftertreatment certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Overhauls, maintains and repairs motor driven equipment such as automobiles, trucks, graders, tractors, sweepers, loaders and related mechanical equipment.
  • Disassembles, replaces worn parts, and repairs engines, transmissions, drive trains, brakes, and electrical systems.
  • Uses computer diagnostics to troubleshoot fault codes on equipment with onboard computer controls.
  • Performs tune ups of electrical and fuel systems with appropriate tools.
  • Makes emergency repairs at job sites as needed.
  • Welds, fabricates parts, and installs special equipment for other city departments.
