Job summary

Central Power Systems & Services in Chandler, AZ, is seeking a Critical Power Technician to install, start up, and service emergency standby generators, transfer switches, and switchgear. The role includes field service with overtime potential and a rotating after-hours on-call calendar.

You will diagnose and repair PLCs, AC/DC, and switch gears; perform maintenance on diesel and gas engines; and coordinate with electrical contractors.

Qualifications

• Two years of higher voltage generator maintenance experience (CAT, Kohler, Cummins).
• Electrical and mechanical knowledge of diesel-powered generators.
• 3+ years of generator maintenance experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school preferred.
• AAS Electrical Power Generator Tech is a big plus.
• Military experience is a plus; willingness to travel and be on-call.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of critical power systems installation, start-up and commissioning.
• Perform diagnostic and repair procedures on PLCs, AC/DC, and switch gears.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on generators, gas and diesel engines, and transfer switches.
• Coordinate with installing electrical contractors.
• Oversee correction of issues arising from commissioning.
• Test and troubleshoot various sized generators.

We are looking for a Critical Power Technician to help support that mission.Job SummaryWe service all brands of emergency standby generators, as well as automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and other related accessories. The normal working shift is 7AM to 4PM. However, with field service, the opportunity for overtime is common. A candidate should be willing and able to work overtime as needed. Once a technician has proved capable of working in the field solo, they will be part of our rotating after-hours on-call calendar.Ideally, we are looking for candidates who have some degree of prior experience with generator sets, diesel & gaseous engines, and industrial / commercial electrical distribution.
