Job summary

Wanco Inc. seeks a Power Generation Engineer in our Aurora, CO facility to design and support production of diesel generator sets up to 500kW. The role requires a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree and 3+ years of hands-on experience, with strong problem solving and independent work skills.

Key duties include configuring genset controllers, selecting major components, collaborating with suppliers, and documenting designs via CAD. Proficiency with CAD tools and MATLAB is a plus.

Qualifications

• BSME or BSEE degree or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of 3-phase rotating machinery and 12-lead schemes.
• Experience with diesel engines and emission control concepts.
• CAD/AutoCAD proficiency for designs and schematics.
• SolidWorks experience preferred; GIS for mapping tasks.
• Proficiency in MATLAB for data analysis and modeling.

Responsibilities

• Design and support production of diesel genset sets up to 500kW.
• Configure genset controllers; basic PLC programming may be needed.
• Identify suppliers and select major components (engine, alternator, breakers).
• Collaborate with domestic and overseas suppliers on custom solutions.
• Document designs with CAD and Engineering Change processes.
• Assist engine manufacturers with engine application testing.
• Troubleshoot production test issues.
• Perform maintenance and repair on power-generation equipment.
• Use CAD/AutoCAD to design/modify components; develop prototypes.
• Apply systems engineering to analyze and improve performance.
