Job Summary
To provide safe, reliable, and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, as well as performing expert diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdowns on road, reduce vehicle downtime, and improve total fleet reliability.
Responsibilities
- Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the fleet's life cycle.
- Perform FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment, complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Perform quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on all fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Address all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups in a timely and efficient manner.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications, including engines, transmissions, clutches, drive-line, differential, steering and suspension, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust systems, intake systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems, and lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Follow procedures and document all work performed on work orders.
- Develop proficiency in Sysco computer programs and electrical meter testing.
- Perform electrical repairs and welding projects as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- Medium / Heavy Duty truck technical training
- High school diploma or GED required
Experience
- 2-year school and 1 year of experience or 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair
- Valid driver's license
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
- Annual Inspector Certification, Brake Inspector Certification, ASE certifications (preferred)
- 609 HVAC Certification
Professional Skills
- Knowledge of diagnostic software, vehicle systems, electrical systems, and safety regulations
- Own tools required for maintenance and repairs
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 100 lbs and working in various environments
Physical Demands
Regular sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 100 lbs. required.
Work Environment
Exposure to various weather conditions, mechanical parts, and noise. Non-traditional hours and occasional travel required.
