Job summary

PSA Penn Terminals LLC in Delaware County, PA is seeking a Diesel-Powered Equipment Technician to maintain and repair heavy terminal machinery, ensuring safe, reliable operation with minimal downtime.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related systems, document activities, and coordinate with operations to minimize disruptions while adhering to OSHA lockout/tagout procedures.

Qualifications

  • Diesel or heavy-equipment technician certification.
  • Experience with container-handling equipment, cranes, yard tractors, forklifts, or other port equipment.
  • Formal training in diesel technology, hydraulics, pneumatics, or industrial maintenance.
  • Experience with electronic engine diagnostics.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel-powered terminal equipment.
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems, including pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, hoses, fittings, and hydraulic controls.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems, including compressors, air lines, valves, actuators, regulators, and air brakes.
  • Inspect equipment for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and safety-related deficiencies.
  • Perform scheduled service, lubrication, fluid changes, filter replacement, adjustments, and component replacement.
  • Diagnose equipment problems using service manuals, schematics, diagnostic equipment, gauges, and testing procedures.
  • Repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective components to manufacturer specifications.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform timely field repairs to minimize operational downtime.
  • Conduct operational and safety checks following repairs before returning equipment to service.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders, and parts usage documentation.
  • Coordinate with terminal operations and other maintenance personnel to prioritize equipment repairs and minimize disruptions.
  • Follow OSHA, terminal safety requirements, manufacturer procedures, and established lockout/tagout practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for tools, diagnostic equipment, and company assets.
  • Participate in equipment inspections and preventive-maintenance programs designed to improve reliability and reduce unexpected failures.
