Qualifications

Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as an auto mechanic specializing in automotive diesel engine repair work.
Not less than two and one-half years of full-time satisfactory experience as an auto mechanic specializing in automotive diesel engine repair work, plus helper/apprentice experience or relevant education to reach five years.
License requirements: NY Class B CDL or valid NY license; must obtain Class B CDL within six months unless already licensed; may require additional NY Certifications listed in the job posting.

Responsibilities

Overhaul diesel engines, transmissions and fuel systems; align wheels, adjust tracks and repair steering equipment.
Perform troubleshooting to identify mechanical defects and make minor repairs so vehicles return to the garage under power.
Maintain reports and records; supervise machinist helpers or related personnel as directed; train staff in maintenance tasks.
Operate vehicles or equipment as required to perform assigned duties.
