Job summary

Navy Seabee Foundation in the United States seeks a skilled diesel/heavy equipment mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet of heavy machinery. You will perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and component replacements to keep equipment productive and safe.

Qualifications

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment in field or shop settings.
  • Ability to read manuals and service bulletins and implement repairs.
  • Capable of prioritizing repairs and maintaining work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, rubber tire and track dozers, front-end loaders, and motor graders.
  • Remove, repair and install transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps, motors and other heavy equipment components.
  • Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on hydraulic powertrains and engines.
  • Prioritize and decide on equipment repairs as needed.
  • Maintain work orders and conduct work area inspections.
  • Operate mobile equipment including overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.
  • Weld carbon arc, plasma, MIG, TIG and stick welds.
  • Fill-in Supervisor as required and train/mentor other employees.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What You Will Do


  • Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as, but not limited to: Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Rubber Tire and Track Dozers, Front-end Loaders, and Motor Graders.

  • Perform the removal, repair and installation of transmissions, engines, breaks, differentials, pumps, motors, torque convertors, final drives and other heavy equipment systems or components.

  • Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems such as: hydraulic, power train and engines.

  • Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.

  • Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections.

  • Operate mobile equipment such as: Overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.

  • Perform welding such as: Carbon arc, Plasma, Mig, Tig, and Stick.

  • Perform as a Fill-in Supervisor as required.

  • Train and mentor other employees.

  • Perform other duties as required.
