Job summary

Thecolumbuspage is seeking an experienced maintenance technician to diagnose, repair, and service engines powering a range of equipment, including trucks, generators, and construction machines. You will inspect parts for wear, disassemble and reassemble components, and ensure correct maintenance procedures are followed.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license or CDL.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, disassemble engines, and inspect parts for wear.
  • Repair and maintain engines powering trucks, generators, and construction equipment.
  • Recondition and replace parts using lathes, cutting tools, and precision instruments.
  • Weld and cut parts with arc-welding and flame-cutting equipment.
  • Perform basic repairs such as oil changes, brakes, suspensions, and fifth wheel work.
  • Test drive and adjust vehicle systems to verify performance.
  • Maintain equipment appearance by cleaning and painting.
  • Comply with federal and state inspection requirements.
  • Maintain vehicle records of services and repairs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers, follow up on parts and outsourced work.
  • Practice safe work habits and use PPE.
  • Keep supplies stocked by inventorying and ordering parts.

Job description

Communicates and supports the Company’s mission, vision, and core values.

  • Performs diagnostic tests and troubleshoots, disassembles engines, and examines parts for defects and excessive wear to determine maintenance requirements.
  • Repairs and maintains engines used to power machines such as trucks, electric generators, construction machinery, etc.
  • Reconditions and replaces parts such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves, bushings, etc., using lathes, boring machines, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Welds and cuts parts, using arc-welding and flame cutting equipment.
  • Performs basic repairs such as oil changes, replace brakes, suspension parts and fifth wheel repairs.
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives and/or adjusting control and systems.
  • Maintains equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and/or painting.
  • Complies with federal and state inspection requirements.
  • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Coordinates efforts with various vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers, and follows up on pending parts and outsourced work.
  • Practices safe work habits and uses personal protective equipment as required.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
Required Qualification/Skills:
  • Experience in various equipment parts and mechanics.
  • Ability to understand various system requirements such as mechanic, electronic, fuel, electrical, and pneumatic.
  • Computer skills need for diagnostics, implementing, and recording repairs and maintenance.
  • Must have a knowledge of the use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Product Safety Data Sheets (PSDS).
  • Analytic skills in diagnosis and troubleshooting techniques for various equipment.
  • Knowledge of the use of various equipment to effectively repair and maintain it.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills – courteous, responsible, and patient.
  • Ability to communicate well along with interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record or CDL
