Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic to service a range of diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment for the Department of Transportation. You will perform repairs, inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance to support safe, reliable transportation infrastructure.

Willingness to travel, overtime, and shift work may be required. A Class A/B CDL, Medical Examiner’s Certificate, and PA Class 7 Inspection Certification are

Qualifications

• Two years journey level mechanic experience in diagnosis and repair of autos, heavy trucks, or construction equipment.
• One year of experience diagnosing and repairing diesel vehicles or equipment.
• Possession of an active Class A or Class B CDL on day one.
• Medical Examiner’s Certificate required on first day.
• PA Class 7 Inspection Certification required on first day.
• Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) required within probation.

Responsibilities

• Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and tune-ups on equipment.
• Conduct state inspections and ensure safety standards are met.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify problems and determine repair methods.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow safety procedures.
• Assist coworkers with major repairs and demonstrate repair techniques.
