Qualifications

• Completion of the Commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program or equivalent.
• Two years journey-level mechanic experience diagnosing and repairing automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, including diesel vehicles.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Repair vehicles and equipment including engines, brakes, transmissions, and electrical components.
• Perform diagnostics, tune ups, and scheduled maintenance to keep equipment functioning properly.
• Complete official safety and emissions inspections and prepare required documentation.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify equipment problems and determine proper repair methods.
• Maintain clean work areas, follow safety procedures, and report any injuries or equipment issues.
• Make necessary adjustments, perform minor repairs, and support other mechanics during major repair projects.

Education

Completion of Commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program or equivalent

Two years journey level mechanic experience in diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment (including diesel)
