Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation is seeking a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair a wide range of diesel and construction equipment. This hands-on role focuses on diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and safety, ensuring equipment operates reliably to keep roads safe.

You will inspect engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems; perform safety inspections; use testing tools; and report findings.

Qualifications

• Experience with diesel engines and construction equipment is required or equivalent training.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical/electrical issues on heavy equipment.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities

• Repair vehicles, engines, electrical parts, transmissions, brakes and other components.
• Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostics to reduce wear and extend equipment life.
• Complete safety and emissions inspections and document findings accurately.
• Use testing tools to identify issues and determine repair processes.
• Maintain and report on hand tools, power tools and equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and use protective equipment to prevent injuries.
