Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, working through the Department of Transportation in Luzerne County, seeks a skilled Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic to repair and maintain a fleet supporting highway operations. Qualifications

Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment.
Experience diagnosing diesel-powered engines and construction equipment.
Must have completed or be eligible for Commonwealth Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic training.
Active CDL with Air Brake restriction removed and Manual Transmission restriction removed.

Responsibilities

Repair and overhaul cars, trucks, tractors, and construction equipment by replacing parts and performing mechanical adjustments.
Carry out diagnostics, tune-ups, tire changes, and system repairs to ensure safe operation.
Conduct official state safety and emissions inspections and document results.
Identify equipment problems using diagnostic tools and repair motorized hand equipment such as compressors and chain saws.
Maintain a clean work area, follow safety procedures, report injuries, and mitigate hazards.
