Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic to join the Chester County Maintenance Organization. This role focuses on repairing, maintaining, and inspecting construction equipment, trucks, and automotive vehicles to support safe and effective operations.

You will diagnose, perform preventive maintenance, and execute safety inspections while following safety procedures and reporting hazards. A Class A/B CDL and industry certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of journey level mechanic experience in diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, including diesel vehicles or equipment.
• Completion of the Commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program or equivalent Federal Government title.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training may be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical parts, and other components.
• Carry out diagnostics, preventive maintenance, tune-ups, and system adjustments.
• Perform official safety and emissions inspections and document results.
• Repair and maintain motorized hand tools and report missing or broken equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
