Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic to maintain, repair, and inspect diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment for the Department of Transportation. You will repair engines, preventively maintain machinery, perform safety inspections, diagnose using tools, and support a safety-focused team on site.

Qualified applicants will have a trainee program or equivalent experience, a valid CDL and required certifications.

Qualifications

• Completion of required training or equivalent experience in diesel and construction equipment repair.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment.
• Active CDL and required medical/certifications on day one of employment.

Responsibilities

• Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics and tune-ups.
• Ensure safety standards and complete state inspections and paperwork.
• Diagnose problems using diagnostic tools and determine repair methods.
• Maintain a clean, safe worksite and support team during major repairs.
• Follow procedures and assist coworkers as needed.
