First Student is hiring a Diesel Technician for our Maywood shop, with a Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm day shift. The role focuses on keeping school buses safe and reliable, performing diagnostics, brake work, tune-ups, and preventive maintenance across a large service network.

The position offers company-paid ASE testing and CDL Class B training, plus a strong benefits package and clear advancement paths. Requires 1+ years in diesel maintenance and a valid license.

Competenze

• 1+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance experience or equivalent technical school education.
• Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment – company paid training.
• Possession of a mechanic’s tool set to complete all duties.
• Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, bonuses provided).
• Strong computer skills.

Mansioni

• Maintain and ensure vehicles are safe for passengers.
• Diagnose and perform maintenance including brakes, engines, suspensions, drive trains, transmissions, clutches, and other repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual inspections.
• Complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
