THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will repair and refurbish vehicles such as cars, trucks, and heavy machinery. Your tasks include diagnosing repairs, replacing components like shock absorbers, transmissions, clutches, brakes, and performing wheel balancing, alignment checks, minor body repairs, and electrical repairs. You will also perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, tune-ups, tire changes, and repair or rebuild construction or shop equipment.

You will participate in official state inspections for safety and emissions, perform necessary repairs, conduct road tests, and maintain inspection records. Your work schedule is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with potential overtime, travel, and dual shifts from November to March. This position does not offer telework. The starting salary for new employees within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is $46,788 annually.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience as a Tradesman Helper in the automotive field or equivalent, or
  • Graduation from a post-high school diesel technology program, or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Possession of an active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver's Permit with specific restrictions removed on the first day.
  • Active Medical Examiner's Certificate per FMCSA regulations on the first day.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain necessary CDL endorsements and certifications.
  • Ability to obtain a Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification during probation.
  • Must operate vehicles with manual transmission.
  • Subject to Drug and Alcohol testing per federal regulations.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
