The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is actively seeking talented Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanics to become part of the Tunnel Maintenance Organization! If you have a strong commitment to your craft in repair and maintenance and a genuine enthusiasm for ensuring that equipment operates at peak performance, we invite you to apply right away!
In this position, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of a variety of vehicles, such as cars, trucks, and tractors, as well as equipment including sweepers and front-end loaders. Your tasks will involve replacing components like shock absorbers, transmissions, and brakes, in addition to balancing wheels and verifying alignment. You will also perform minor body repairs, test electrical systems, and implement a preventative maintenance program for all vehicles and equipment. Key responsibilities will include diagnostics, tune-ups, tire changes, and repairs on engine sub-assemblies and systems such as cooling and suspension.
Furthermore, you will carry out state inspections to ensure safety and emissions compliance, perform road tests, complete necessary inspection documentation, and utilize diagnostic tools to identify problems and determine appropriate repair strategies. Your maintenance duties will also encompass motorized hand tools, which includes reporting any broken equipment and ensuring a clean, safe work environment. You must prioritize safety by promptly reporting injuries and making routine adjustments to promote safe operation and minimize equipment wear.
