Job summary

Molex is seeking a Die Design Engineer to lead the design and development of stamping dies for new product launches and ongoing manufacturing. You will collaborate with engineering, toolroom, and production teams to deliver tooling solutions that improve performance, quality, and cost competitiveness.

The role may be based in Lincoln, NE or Rochester Hills, MI and reports to the Die Design Supervisor in Lincoln.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or related technical field or 3+ years in high-speed stamping, die design, or toolroom operations.
  • Experience designing dies, tooling, or mechanical manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience using CAD software to create, modify, or review tooling designs.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, tooling prints, blueprints, or technical specifications.
  • Experience coordinating tooling builds, timelines, cost estimates, or manufacturing improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop progressive stamping dies supporting new product introductions and manufacturing operations.
  • Lead tooling design projects from concept through implementation, ensuring performance, quality, cost, and timeline objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Toolmakers, Process Engineers, and Production teams to optimize tooling solutions and manufacturability.
  • Participate in product design reviews and provide expertise on tooling feasibility, speed, quality, and cost considerations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on tooling performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Support problem-solving efforts by identifying root causes and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Partner with suppliers and vendors to source tooling components and support new tooling builds.
  • Contribute to Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA, and quality initiatives that improve manufacturing performance and customer satisfaction.

Your Job

Molex is currently seeking a Die Design Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will lead the design and development of stamping dies that support new product launches and ongoing manufacturing operations. You will collaborate with engineering, toolroom, and production teams to deliver innovative tooling solutions that improve performance, quality, and cost competitiveness. This position may be based in either our Lincoln, NE or Rochester Hills, MI facility and will report to the Die Design Supervisor located in Lincoln, NE. You will play a key role in supporting the continued growth and success of our manufacturing operations.

Our Team

Our Stamping Development team supports the design, development, and continuous improvement of tooling used in the production of connector and terminal products. This team partners closely with Product Engineering, Toolmakers, Process Engineers, and Manufacturing teams to bring new products to market and drive operational excellence through innovative tooling solutions.

What You Will Do
  • Design and develop progressive stamping dies supporting new product introductions and manufacturing operations.
  • Lead tooling design projects from concept through implementation, ensuring performance, quality, cost, and timeline objectives are achieved.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Degree in Engineering, Tool & Die, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related technical field OR 3+ years of experience in high-speed stamping, die design, or toolroom operations
  • Experience designing dies, tooling, or other mechanical manufacturing equipment OR experience supporting high-speed stamping operations, progressive dies, or toolroom environments
  • Experience using CAD software to create, modify, or review mechanical or tooling designs
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, tooling prints, blueprints, or technical specifications
  • Experience coordinating technical projects, tooling builds, timelines, cost estimates, or manufacturing improvement initiatives
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience designing progressive or high-speed stamping dies
  • Toolroom experience supporting high-speed stamping operations
  • Experience with die theory, die troubleshooting, and tooling optimization
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) programs
  • Experience with NX, CoCreate, or similar CAD platforms
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
