Job summary

UPMC is hiring a part-time or casual Radiologic Technologist in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, featuring a generous sign-on bonus. Job description

Incentives
  • Generous Sign‑On Bonus: $10,000 and 2‑year commitment (Part‑Time will receive 1/2)
  • Candidate will be placed in the appropriate job title based on background and experience. Full‑Time, Part‑Time and Casual status available.

Shift: rotating weekends and holidays with ability to float to Passavant McCandless on a limited basis (up to 40%).

Responsibilities
  • Patient Identification and Documentation
    • Accurately identify patients using two identifiers and adhere to universal protocols during procedures.
    • Review patient history and assess physician orders, following departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition.
    • Document patient history in electronic records as required.
  • Contrast Administration and Coding
    • Administer oral (PO) and rectal contrast as per physician orders and department policies.
    • Ensure proper coding and tracking of exams within your area of responsibility using the RIS system.
    • Network all exams to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and enter charges appropriately.
  • Diagnostic Radiography
    • Perform diagnostic radiography procedures using established protocols without constant supervision.
    • Operate complex imaging equipment, acquire, analyze, manipulate, and document image data according to protocol.
  • Interpersonal Skills and Teamwork
    • Interact effectively with patients and co‑workers, demonstrating empathy, respect, and active listening.
    • Collaborate as a team member within the department and across other departments to expedite patient care.
  • Independent Judgment and Communication
    • Adjust protocols based on independent judgment to apply ionizing radiation appropriately.
    • Clearly communicate instructions to patients, allaying fears and ensuring cooperation during procedures.
Qualifications – Internal

Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from an ARRT approved school of completion of program and scheduled graduation date. Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision by an ARRT certified diagnostic technologist until the degree is verified.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances
  • ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist (must obtain within 6 months of hire date as of January 1, 2025; 12 months for those hired before that date).
  • CPR or BLS required (CPR includes AHA didactic and skills demonstration within 30 days of hire).
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.
  • Act 33 with renewal.
  • Act 34 with renewal.
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
  • If working at a NY facility, must have certification from ARRT or NMTCB and be licensed through New York State Department of Health.
  • Technologist cannot work in an outpatient setting until ARRT has been obtained.
