Job summary

Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, NC is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist to join our laboratory team. You will be responsible for obtaining venous and arterial blood samples, performing EKGs, and handling various specimen collection tasks in a fast-paced hospital setting.

In addition to phlebotomy, duties include patient registration, clerical support, specimen processing, quality assurance documentation, and courier duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy course.
• Valid driver’s license with no history of DWI conviction within the past 5 years or moving traffic violation for 3 years.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Obtain venous and arterial blood samples and perform blood cultures, nasal washings, throat cultures, nasopharyngeal swabs, and point-of-care glucose testing.
• Assist with clerical duties including patient registration and POS cash collections; correct registration errors promptly.
• Process specimens and complete quality assurance documentation.
• Perform courier duties for the department as needed; assist with general daily upkeep of department vehicle.

Job Details: Job Location: Onslow Memorial Hospital - Jacksonville, NC 28546, Position Type: Full Time 1.0, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Other, Primarily responsible for obtaining blood samples (venous and arterial) to include blood cultures, performing EKGs, nasal washings, throat cultures, nasopharyngeal swabs, and point of care whole blood glucose testing. Assists in clerical duties including patient registration, POS cash collections, timely correction of registration errors, specimen processing, completing quality assurance documentation, and courier duties of the department as needed. This position may be responsible for the general daily upkeep of the vehicle.

Experience:
