Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy course.
• Current BLS certification.
• Experience as a phlebotomist (in a hospital setting preferred)/previous laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Obtain venous and arterial blood samples and blood cultures.
• Perform EKGs, nasal washings, throat cultures, and nasopharyngeal swabs.
• Conduct point-of-care glucose testing.
• Assist in clerical duties including patient registration and POS cash collections.
• Prepare and process specimens; complete QA documentation and courier duties as needed.
• Assist with daily vehicle upkeep.

Job description

Primarily responsible for obtaining blood samples (venous and arterial) to include blood cultures, performing EKGs, nasal washings, throat cultures, nasopharyngeal swabs, and point of care whole blood glucose testing. Assists in clerical duties including patient registration, POS cash collections, timely correction of registration errors, specimen processing, completing quality assurance documentation, and courier duties of the department as needed. This position may be responsible for the general daily upkeep of the vehicle.Education/Certifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Completion of an approved phlebotomy course.Valid driver’s license with no history of DWI conviction within the past 5 years or moving traffic violation for 3 years.Current BLS certification.Experience:Experience as a phlebotomist (in a hospital setting preferred)/previous laboratory experience.
