Responsibilities
- Draw blood samples from patients using venipuncture, heel stick, or finger stick techniques.
- Label, record, and transport specimens to laboratories for testing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with protocols.
- Maintain patient safety and comfort, especially when working with children, elderly, or anxious individuals.
- Verify patient identity and ensure proper documentation before sample collection.
- Follow infection control procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.
- Creates a welcoming and comfortable environment for everyone in the STI clinic.
- Prepare and maintain equipment, including needles, vials, and tourniquets.
- Enter data into electronic health records (EHR) systems and manage specimen tracking.
- Correctly label samples.
- Manage appointments
- Field work during events or outreach.
- Prepares samples of Urine, Feces, and other body fluids and correctly labels them.
- Works closely with Dr., Nurse Practitioners and the clinic team to achieve healthy outcomes.
Qualifications
a high school diploma or GED, a high school diploma or GED, completion of a phlebotomy training program, and passing a national certification exam is Required.
