IU Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist for PRN/Supplemental OR coverage across Ambulatory Surgery Centers in Indianapolis. The role focuses on running C-Arms for orthopedic, pain management, urology, and spine procedures, serving as the liaison between OR teams and Imaging Services.

Responsibilities include operating x-ray, fluoro, and fluoroscopy equipment in the OR, patient prep and positioning, collaboration with radiologists, and strict radiation safety adherence.

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of radiologic technology experience.
  • AHA BLS certification is required.
  • Active RT(R) or board-eligible radiography credential; credential within 6 months if board-eligible.
  • ISDH license as Radiologic Technologist or ISDH Radiology Student Permit.

Responsibilities

  • Operates x-ray, fluoro, portable x-ray, and fluoroscopy in surgery.
  • Prepares patients and positions them appropriately.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and physicians for accurate imaging.
  • Follows radiation safety protocols.
  • Documents patient history and imaging details in EMR.
  • Assists with minimally invasive procedures when needed.

Job description

Role Overview

Are you a Radiologic Technologist who thrives on utilizing your skillset in the OR environment? This position is for you! PRN/Supplemental OR Rad Tech with no weekends/nights or holidays rotations. This position is to be available to pick up at least one (1) weekday shift a month, or as staffing is needed at any of the Ambulatory Surgery Centers throughout Indianapolis. The technologist will be responsible for running C-Arms for surgical specialties such as Orthopedics, Pain Management, Urology, and Spine procedures, and will act as a liaison between the OR Teams and Imaging Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operates imaging equipment such as x-ray, fluoro, portable x-ray, and fluoroscopy equipment used in surgery.
  • Prepares patients by explaining exam and positioning them correctly.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and referring physicians to ensure accurate imaging.
  • Follows radiation safety protocols.
  • Documents detailed patient history.
  • Stays current with continuing education.
  • Monitors patients during exam for safety.
  • Documents necessary information in EMR.
  • Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed.
Requirements
  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
  • Requires active status as a Registered Technologist - Radiography, RT(R), through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or a recent graduate of an approved training program in Radiologic Technology (board eligible). If board eligible, must obtain credential in Radiography within 6 months of hire.
  • Requires current Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) license as Radiologic Technologist or a current ISDH Radiology Student Permit.
