Job summary

UNC Health in Pittsboro, NC is seeking a full-time Radiology Technologist to conduct diagnostic radiology procedures and assist radiologists. You will prepare patients, verify orders, manage imaging data in RIS/PACS, and ensure safety and quality throughout procedures.

Minimum requirements include an Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences and ARRT registry eligibility or active status, with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program. If degree is not yet complete, candidates may be selected contingent on completing a degree program within 90 days of hire.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Sciences or registry eligible and become registered within one year from date of hire. (Registry eligible candidates must provide a copy of diploma from accredited program.) Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
• No prior experience required.
• Knowledgable of radiation protection and safety in addition to general and electrical safety, infection control, TB and standard precautions.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all aspects of General Diagnostic Radiology and adheres to UNC Healthcare System protocols.
• Ensures patient demographic accuracy, transmits QA-ed images to PACS, and documents procedure status in RIS.
• Performs routine procedures and tests using radiology equipment to obtain diagnostic data.
• Delivers timely, high-quality radiographic images and reviews orders and patient information for accuracy.
• Uses RIS, CIS, PACS and SMS to access information and document status of procedures and ensure proper data flows.
• Verifies patient identity, pregnancy status, and safety considerations before imaging and responds to emergencies while ensuring patient safety.
