Summary
This position is in the Radiology Service at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center (RRVAMC). The technologist operates independently, without direct supervision, performing and coordinating all diagnostic radiology examinations, with or without contrast materials. The purpose of these exams is to obtain diagnostic radiographic studies to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Applicants pending completion of educational or certification requirements may be considered tentatively but cannot be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable, per VA policy.
- Certification: Must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Radiography (ARRT) (R).
- Education: Completion of a 24-month full-time training course or equivalent in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by JRCERT or recognized agencies.
- Exception for Non-Certified - Entry Level Candidates: Non-certified DRTs meeting ARRT requirements may receive a temporary appointment as a graduate DRT, valid for up to two years, under specific conditions.
- Loss of Credential: Failure to obtain or maintain certification within two years may result in removal from the occupation and employment termination.
- English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Duties
- Perform a variety of radiographic examinations, including of the extremities, pelvis, spine, chest, and skull.
- Maintain control of the Radiology area by coordinating and organizing workflows.
- Supervise and train students and technologists.
- Identify patient films correctly and explain procedures to patients.
- Practice radiation safety to minimize exposure.
- Additional tasks as assigned.
Work Schedule and Benefits
