Summary
The incumbent's principal responsibilities are to independently perform general radiographic technology (R), Computed Tomography (CT), Dexa Scan, procedures at above the full performance level for patients of the VA NWI-Health Care System, along with other duties necessary for the functionality of the imaging department.

Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Education: Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or associate degree, accredited by JRCERT or other recognized agencies.
- Credentialing Standards: Must meet the standards set by the Consumer-Patient Radiation Health and Safety Act of 1981 and be certified as radiographers.
- Certification: Must be certified in general radiologic technology by ARRT (R). Advanced ARRT certification is required for CT, MRI, or Mammography duties performed independently.
- English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
- Grade Determinations: For GS-9, at least one year of related experience at GS-8 level demonstrating specific competencies, including system checks, calibration, patient record review, monitoring physiologic changes, and patient interaction skills.
Duties
- Perform procedures and examinations under the direction of radiologists and medical officers to produce diagnostic radiographic studies.
- Prepare and administer contrast media and medications following regulations.
- Knowledgeable in digital radiology and PACS systems.
- Specialize in computed tomography, including scans with contrast, angiography, 3-D reconstructions, biopsies, and vascular exams.
- Interpret examination requests, assess images for diagnostic quality, and understand organ functions.
- Input and manage radiology information in computer systems.
