Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a DevOps System Engineer to support a U.S. Air Force program in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The role focuses on sustainment, CI/CD, and cloud migration for a mission-critical application with hybrid onsite expectations.

The candidate will design secure on-prem infrastructure, implement DevSecOps practices, and collaborate across teams to ensure reliable software delivery. 5+ years of sys/DevSecOps experience and TS/SSCI considerations are preferred.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance; Top Secret preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in system engineering and DevSecOps.
• IAT II certifications such as CySA+, Security+, CCNA-Security, GSEC, SSCP.

Responsibilities of the System Engineer

• Design and maintain secure, scalable on-premises infrastructure.


• Collaborate with teams to support application and infrastructure requirements.


• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate software delivery.


• Automate provisioning, configuration, and monitoring processes for legacy applications.


• Monitor performance, resolve issues, and improve system reliability.


• Implement DevSecOps security controls and best practices.


• Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, and deployment incidents.


• Administer and maintain critical Linux/Windows servers


• Evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance operations.

Qualifications of the System Engineer

• Active Secret clearance, Top Secret preferred


• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 5+ years of related system engineering, administration, and devsecops experience


• IAT II certifications (one of the following): CySA+, Security+, CCNA-Security, GSEC, SSCP


• Experience with AWS GC, cloud services and air gapped environments


• Experience supporting Agile development environment


• Experience with containerization and automation using Kubernetes and Ansible


• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Bitbucket


• Experience with monitoring tools (SonarQube, Fortify)


• Experience maintaining RHEL/Linux infrastructure

Compensation of the System Engineer

• Total compensation based on experience level - $150,000-$185,000+ **based on experience level**
