Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer I to support a U.S. Navy program in San Diego, CA. This role focuses on researching and developing computer and network software for IT Management Support services, with 100% onsite work.

A Secret clearance and a BS degree with 4+ years of experience are required. You will build secure software in classified environments, implement DoD/STIGs, and deliver scalable web interfaces and APIs using Python and JavaScript.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with 4+ years IT/software experience.
• Active Secret Clearance required.
• Experience with Python and JavaScript development.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and DoD environment.
• Experience implementing DISA STIGs and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Engineer and maintain secure, scalable software applications leveraging Python, JavaScript, and other technologies in classified and unclassified environments.
• Lead secure software development practices by embedding cybersecurity controls throughout the lifecycle in accordance with DoD and DISA STIG standards.
• Create and optimize modern web interfaces and APIs (REST, SOAP, GraphQL) for data aggregation and delivery.
• Drive software quality through Agile development, TDD methodologies, and modular OO design in CI/CD DevSecOps pipelines.
• Design and manage database architectures, schema documentation, and system frameworks while reducing technical debt.
• Collaborate with customers, engineers, and stakeholders to define requirements, develop technical specs, support integrations, and author system documentation.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer I to support a program for the U.S. Navy in San Diego, CA. The team is seeking an experienced engineer research and develop computer and network software for an IT Management Support services contract. Details below:

Clearance: Secret clearance

Location: San Diego, CA (100% onsite)

Responsibilities of the Software Engineer:

• Engineer and maintain secure, scalable software applications leveraging Python, JavaScript, and other technologies in classified and unclassified operational environments.
• Lead secure software development practices by embedding cybersecurity controls throughout the development lifecycle in accordance with DoD and DISA STIG standards.
• Create and optimize modern web interfaces and APIs (REST, SOAP, GraphQL) that enable seamless aggregation and delivery of data from diverse sources.
• Drive software quality through Agile development, TDD methodologies, and modular object-oriented design within automated CI/CD DevSecOps pipelines.
• Design and manage database architectures, schema documentation, and system frameworks while proactively reducing technical debt and improving maintainability.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with customers, engineers, and stakeholders to define requirements, develop technical specifications, support integrations, and author system documentation.

Qualifications of the Software Engineer:

• Active Secret Clearance
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 4+ years of IT and software engineering experience
• IAT II certifications (one of the following): CySA+, Security+, CCNA-Security, GSEC, SSCP
• Experience developing code in JavaScript and Python
• Experience implementing Agile/Scrum methodology
• Experience implementing DISA STIGs
• Object oriented design within CI/CD DevSecOps and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience developing software in a DoD environment

Compensation of the Software Engineer:

• Total compensation based on experience level - $125,000-$135,000 **based on experience level**
