Shield Consulting Solutions in Annapolis Junction, MD, is seeking a DevOps Software Engineer with active TS/SCI w/Polygraph to design, develop, and maintain a distributed Metrics and Monitoring solution for HPC infrastructure. The role is on-site with no telework option.

Qualifications include 7 years of software engineering experience and a technical bachelor’s degree (2 years can substitute). Proficiency with Linux, Rust, Python, CI/CD, Ansible, Splunk, and Kafka is required.

Job Description

The DevOps Software Engineer shall be part of a team responsible for designing, developing and maintaining a comprehensive distributed Metrics and Monitoring solution for HPC systems to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of HPC infrastructure.

Required Experience

• Experience using the Linux CLI and Linux Tools
• Experience developing Bash scripts to automate manual processes
• Recent software development experience using Rust and Python
• Experience using Splunk for data collection, message brokers, data storage, and presentation tools
• Experience interfacing with Log Management tools including Syslog-ng and rsyslog
• Experience with Message Brokers including Kafka
• Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) principles and automation tools including Ansible
• Experience with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools such as GitLab CI
• Experience with Git Source Control System

Desired Experience

• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence)
• Experience with Elasticsearch

Salary: $230,000 - $240,000 annually
