Job summary

Shield Consulting Solutions is seeking a DevOps Software Engineer in Annapolis Junction, MD, with active TS/SCI w/Polygraph clearance. The role focuses on designing and maintaining a distributed Metrics and Monitoring solution for HPC systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability of the infrastructure.

The position requires Linux CLI skills, Bash scripting, Rust and Python development, and experience with CI/CD (GitLab CI) and IaC tools like Ansible.

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (2 additional years of experience may substitute for a degree).

Job Description

The DevOps Software Engineer shall be part of a team responsible for designing, developing and maintaining a comprehensive distributed Metrics and Monitoring solution for HPC systems to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of HPC infrastructure.

Required Experience

• Experience using the Linux CLI and Linux Tools
• Experience developing Bash scripts to automate manual processes
• Recent software development experience using Rust and Python
• Experience using Splunk for data collection, message brokers, data storage, and presentation tools
• Experience interfacing with Log Management tools including Syslog-ng and rsyslog
• Experience with Message Brokers including Kafka
• Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) principles and automation tools including Ansible
• Experience with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools such as GitLab CI
• Experience with Git Source Control System

Desired Experience

• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence)
• Experience with Elasticsearch

Salary: $230,000 - $240,000 annually
