Job description

Our client is seeking a seasoned DevOps Lead to join their expanding team, enhancing the development of a cloud-based, API-driven platform. They're a well-funded, internationally-known company with exciting plans to build a DevOps team in the next year, and looking for someone to lead the DevOps function for a greenfield project.

Role Overview: The DevOps Lead will manage a small team of DevOps Engineers, oversee daily activities, resolve roadblocks, and lead planning sessions, as well as contribute hands-on to technically complex tasks. This role involves close collaboration with development and technology teams and includes hands-on technical design and development tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage the DevOps team.
2. Act as the technical subject matter expert for DevOps.
3. Design DevOps processes and procedures aligned with business goals.
4. Contribute to platform design decisions across teams.
5. Collaborate with the Product team to meet business objectives.
6. Adhere to and improve technical, process, and quality standards.
7. Participate in staffing decisions, including interviews and hiring.
8. Develop and maintain technical documentation and ensure knowledge transfer.
9. Promote a security-first mindset within the team.
10. Proactively take ownership of problems and solutions.
11. Provide innovative problem-solving skills.
12. Occasionally travel for strategy meetings (several times per year).
13. Collaborate with development teams.
14. Manage sprints for the DevOps team.
15. Assist team members with projects as needed.
16. Troubleshoot Azure issues with IT team members.
17. Design and create build and release pipelines in Azure DevOps.
18. Create infrastructure as code deployments using Azure ARM, Bicep templates, and PowerShell scripts.
19. Manage and troubleshoot existing pipelines, build agents, servers, and Azure PaaS resources.
20. Oversee the Azure DevOps organization and projects.

Required Qualifications:

1. 10+ years of DevOps experience, with at least a few years of people management experience.
2. Experience with large software development projects and agile teams.
3. Availability to work 8:00 AM-4:30 PM Eastern Time remotely.
4. Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours requests.
